1. Data We Collect

Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user ID, name (if provided), and email address (if provided). This is stored on our server to identify your account.

Role and preferences: Your selected role (apprentice or journeyman), apprentice year, and default job type are stored to personalize your experience.

Photos: When you use Inspect or Advisor mode, the photo you capture is sent to our server. Photos are stored alongside inspection reports for review by your linked journeyman.

Inspection reports: AI-generated analysis results, NEC citations, verdicts, and any corrections made by journeymen are stored on our server.

Usage data: We collect basic usage metrics including which features you use, session frequency, and inspection counts. We do not collect device identifiers, location data, or browsing history.

2. Third-Party AI Processing

Google Gemini API: Your photos are sent to Google’s Generative Language API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) for AI-powered image analysis. Specifically:

• The photo image data is transmitted to Google’s servers
• Google processes the image to identify electrical components and generate NEC code analysis
• Google’s API returns the analysis text to our server
• Google’s Gemini API Terms of Service state that data sent via the paid API is not used to train Google’s models

No other third-party services receive your photos or personal data.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide AI-powered electrical inspection analysis
• Enable journeyman review of apprentice work
• Personalize NEC guidance based on your apprentice year
• Focus AI analysis on relevant NEC articles based on your selected job type
• Improve SPARK’s accuracy using journeyman corrections (anonymized and aggregated)
• Monitor app performance and fix issues

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only in these limited cases:

• Google Gemini API: Photos are sent for AI analysis as described above
• Your journeyman: When you send an inspection for review, your journeyman sees the photo, analysis, and your name
• Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect safety

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on our server infrastructure hosted by Railway (railway.app). Data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption. We retain inspection data for as long as your account is active.

6. Your Rights

You can request to:

• Access all data we have about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your inspection history

7. Children’s Privacy

SPARK is designed for professional electricians. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as SPARK evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
